I’m rather pleased with this one. This was painted around the time that Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall was doing his big campaign for free range poultry. It is very Ralph Steadman in influence. Also, I owned a Spitting Image yearbook as a kid which had a picture of a mutant chicken on one of the near front pages.. So I guess that’s is the other inspiration for this one. I just had some barbecue chicken and chips for dinner, which reminded me to put this picture on-line to show off on the Interweb in all it’s glory.
This artwork shows Cameron and Clegg standing outside of number ten Downing Street. It was made when the coalition came into power in May 2010. I initially had the two of them holding each other’s cocks, but decided to picture them as two cocks in suits instead.
Twin Peaks is one of my favorite TV series of all time. David Lynch’s striking surrealist imagery is something that lives with me. There are very few film directors that can produce works that affect and influence my psyche in such a way. Maybe Tarkovsky or Herzog in a more human sense, but there is nobody really quite like Lynch.
I saw the band Faith No More at Download festival after they reformed a couple of years ago. I really liked the Twin Peaks set, and created this painting afterwards. I really love their sound, especially Roddy Bottum’s keyboards which give the music a cinematic edge.
